White Tea Nectarine Window

A chilled drink with nectarine, thyme.

White Tea Nectarine Window

White tea has a delicate flavor, so nectarine and a tiny amount of thyme make suitable partners. The nectarine adds a floral fruit note rather than a strong hit of acidity. Brew the tea as directed and let it cool before adding thin fruit slices. A brief rest helps the flavors meet. This is a subtle iced tea for someone who prefers a quiet, lightly fruity drink to a sweet bottled tea. White tea still contains caffeine.

Ingredients

  • 1 tea bag White tea
  • 6 oz Water
  • 1/2 fruit Ripe nectarine, pitted and sliced
  • 1 small sprig Fresh thyme

Make it

  1. Brew the tea in the measured water, using the temperature and steeping time on its packet. Remove the tea bag.
  2. Cool the tea in a heatproof container, then chill for about 30 minutes.
  3. Mash any soft fruit in a separate glass. Lightly bruise herbs or ginger; add these and the listed juices or spices to the cooled tea.
  4. Stir well and taste. Remove ginger or herb sprigs when their flavor suits you. Strain if you prefer a smoother drink, then serve chilled.

Benefits

White tea and nectarine · refreshing fluids

There’s 6 oz of water behind the white tea, nectarine, and thyme in this recipe: everyday hydration with a delicate tea fragrance, rather than another plain glass.

Nectarine · a flavor worth noticing

Using nectarine beside white tea and thyme gives the glass a mellow stone-fruit sweetness, creating its own flavor without needing carbonation or an alcoholic pour.

Contains caffeine.
