Frequently Asked
Questions

You don’t need a label, a dramatic story or a “rock bottom” moment to start asking better questions about alcohol.

NOT ROCK BOTTOM.
JUST READY FOR BETTER.

Faded vintage Polaroid snapshots of wine, beer and a short drink in everyday settings

Cheers Without Beers is built for people who are curious about their drinking, ready to understand their patterns or simply wondering whether life might feel better with alcohol taking up less space.

A lot of these questions begin with one simple thought: “Am I drinking too much?”

Understanding Your Relationship With Alcohol

What is Cheers Without Beers?

Cheers Without Beers helps you understand your relationship with alcohol and explore what you want to change.

Through assessments, behavioral insights, guided Resets and ongoing support, we help you notice the patterns behind your drinking and make practical changes that fit your life.

You don’t need a label or a dramatic story to start.

Who is Cheers Without Beers for?

CWOB is for anyone who has ever wondered:

Am I drinking too much?

Maybe nothing terrible has happened.

Maybe you drink only in certain situations.

Maybe you drink regularly and are starting to question the role alcohol plays in your evenings, relationships, sleep, energy or mental space.

Maybe you are already alcohol-free and want help understanding the patterns that got you here.

You do not have to fit a particular category to use CWOB.

Curiosity is enough.

What do you mean when you say drinking exists on a spectrum?

We believe your relationship with alcohol deserves more than a yes-or-no label.

You might drink occasionally but dislike how those nights end.

You might drink every evening without feeling that anything is terribly wrong.

You might simply notice that alcohol takes up more space in your life than you want.

You don’t have to decide which category you belong in before asking what drinking is giving you, what it’s costing you and whether you want something different.

Do I have to stop drinking completely?

No.

You can use CWOB to understand your drinking before deciding what you want to do about it.

Some people may choose a temporary Reset.

Some may decide they want alcohol in their life less often.

Others may discover they feel better without it altogether.

We encourage you to pay attention to your own experience rather than forcing yourself into a predetermined outcome.

Why does CWOB encourage exploring an alcohol-free life?

Because we believe an alcohol-free life can offer something worth moving toward.

It might mean mornings you feel better about, evenings you remember clearly, more presence with people you love or less time negotiating with yourself about whether to drink.

It can also mean discovering that relaxation, celebration, confidence and connection are still available without alcohol.

Everyone’s experience is different.

We invite you to explore yours and see what becomes possible when alcohol stops occupying the same space in your life.

Nothing terrible has happened because of my drinking. Is CWOB still for me?

Absolutely.

You do not need a crisis to become curious.

Sometimes the most useful question isn’t:

“Is my drinking bad enough?”

It’s:

“Is this still adding something to my life?”

You’re allowed to change a behavior simply because you think life might feel better without it.

What does “Not Rock Bottom. Just Ready for Better.” mean?

You don’t have to wait for something terrible to happen before changing your relationship with alcohol.

Maybe your drinking hasn’t caused a crisis.

Maybe your career is going well. Your relationships are intact. You’re handling your responsibilities. From the outside, everything may look completely fine.

And you can still wonder:

Would my life be better without this?

That question is enough.

“Not Rock Bottom. Just Ready for Better.” is our belief that change doesn’t have to begin with fear, consequences or a label.

It can begin because you want better mornings.

More energy.

Better sleep.

More presence.

Less negotiating with yourself.

More confidence in your choices.

Or simply the chance to find out what life feels like when alcohol takes up less space.

You don’t have to prove that your drinking is “bad enough.”

You just have to decide that you’re curious about something better.

Not Rock Bottom. Just Ready for Better.

What if I’m just curious?

That’s one of the best reasons to start.

You don’t have to arrive at CWOB knowing exactly what you want.

The CWOB Drinking Pattern Snapshot is designed to help you understand your current patterns and give you a clearer picture of what may be influencing your drinking.

You can learn first and decide what you want to do afterward.

I’m already alcohol-free. Can CWOB still help me?

Yes.

Stopping drinking and understanding your relationship with alcohol are not always the same thing.

You may still want to understand:

  • why certain situations trigger thoughts about drinking
  • what alcohol used to provide for you
  • how your routines are changing
  • how to handle social situations
  • how to build new ways to relax, celebrate or reward yourself
  • how alcohol became connected to your identity

CWOB can help you keep building the life underneath the change.

Why Changing Drinking Can Feel Difficult

What does it mean to separate alcohol from my identity?

Sometimes drinking becomes part of how we describe ourselves:

“I’m a wine person.”

“I’m the fun one.”

“This is how I relax.”

Changing your drinking can then feel like giving up part of yourself.

Our belief is that alcohol is something you use. It is not the thing that makes you interesting, social, funny, confident or deserving of a break.

When you begin separating the drink from the person, you create room to ask:

“Does this still fit me?”

You can keep your humor, friendships, traditions and personality while changing the role alcohol plays.

You’re changing a behavior, not erasing who you are.

Why is quitting alcohol tricky even without physical dependence?

Because drinking can become connected to much more than the substance itself.

You may be changing a routine, a reward system, a stress response, a social ritual and part of your identity at the same time.

Biology

Your brain can learn associations between alcohol and certain situations.

Friday night. Dinner. Finishing work. Sitting on the patio. Meeting friends.

Over time, the situation itself can begin creating anticipation.

Alcohol may also become associated with reward:

“This makes tonight more enjoyable.”

Or relief:

“This takes the edge off.”

A learned expectation of reward or relief can exist without physical dependence.

Habits

Repeated behaviors can become increasingly automatic.

Finish work → enter the kitchen → pour a drink → sit down.

Eventually, the situation begins prompting the behavior before much conscious thought happens.

Removing alcohol can therefore leave an empty moment.

CWOB focuses heavily on understanding that moment and finding other ways to meet the need underneath it.

Social life

Drinking is often something other people participate in.

Changing it can suddenly create questions:

What should I order?

Will somebody ask why I’m not drinking?

Will I still enjoy this?

Will I feel left out?

Even supportive people can unintentionally reinforce old patterns simply because those patterns have always been part of the group.

Culture

Alcohol comes with a powerful cultural story.

Champagne means celebration.

Wine means relaxing after a long day.

Beer means watching the game.

Cocktails mean going out.

These associations aren’t universal, but they are familiar enough that removing alcohol can initially feel like removing part of the occasion.

You may be learning that the occasion can stay even when the alcohol does not.

Belonging, reward and immediate relief

Humans naturally care about belonging, reward and avoiding discomfort.

Alcohol can become attached to all three.

That does not mean humans evolved to need alcohol.

It means the immediate experience of fitting in, relaxing or feeling rewarded can sometimes compete with a benefit that feels farther away, like tomorrow morning’s energy.

Understanding that tension can make your behavior much easier to understand.

Why does CWOB focus so much on patterns instead of willpower?

Because drinking rarely happens in a vacuum.

There is usually something around it:

A time.

A place.

A feeling.

A person.

A routine.

A reward.

A stressful day.

A belief about what alcohol is going to provide.

If you only focus on resisting the drink, you may miss the pattern repeatedly leading you toward it.

We want to help you recognize the pattern early enough that you can actually do something with it.

Assessments & Resets

What is the CWOB Drinking Pattern Snapshot?

The CWOB Drinking Pattern Snapshot is a 40-question behavioral assessment designed to help you look more closely at your relationship with alcohol.

It explores areas such as your drinking patterns, motivations, habits, situations and experiences.

Your results are designed to give you useful behavioral insight, not a diagnosis or a label.

The goal is to help you see your drinking more clearly.

What is the Full Behavioral Profile?

The Full Behavioral Profile goes deeper than the CWOB Drinking Pattern Snapshot.

It is designed to help you better understand the behavioral patterns, situations, motivations and learned associations that may be influencing your drinking.

Rather than simply telling you how much you drink, it focuses on the more interesting question:

Why does drinking make sense in the moments when you reach for it?

Your profile can then help personalize the changes you experiment with moving forward.

What is a Reset?

A Reset is a structured period of time designed to help you step away from alcohol, observe what changes and practice new responses to the moments when you would normally drink.

CWOB currently offers multiple Reset lengths so you can choose a timeframe that fits what you want to explore.

A Reset is not about proving how disciplined you are.

It is an experiment in understanding yourself.

You’ll explore habits, triggers, routines, benefits, social situations, identity, reward, stress and what life feels like when alcohol stops occupying its usual role.

What happens if I drink during my Reset?

You keep going.

One rough moment does not erase everything you have learned or the progress you have already made.

CWOB does not use an all-or-nothing approach where one drink automatically sends you back to zero.

Instead, we encourage you to look at what happened:

What were you feeling?

Where were you?

What did you expect alcohol to do for you?

What happened immediately before the decision?

What could you learn from it?

A setback can contain useful information.

The goal is not perfection.

The goal is understanding your patterns well enough to change them.

Will CWOB judge me or give me a label?

No.

CWOB is intentionally built around curiosity rather than judgment.

We are much more interested in helping you understand your behavior than assigning you an identity.

You do not need to call yourself anything before deciding that something in your life deserves a closer look.

Health & Responsibility

Is Cheers Without Beers therapy or addiction treatment?

No.

Cheers Without Beers is an educational and behavioral self-guided platform.

It is not therapy, medical care, addiction treatment, detoxification or a substitute for professional healthcare.

CWOB does not diagnose alcohol use disorder or any other medical or mental health condition.

If you believe you may be physically dependent on alcohol, have experienced alcohol withdrawal before, drink heavily on a regular basis or are concerned about stopping safely, please speak with a qualified healthcare professional before suddenly stopping alcohol.

Alcohol withdrawal can be medically serious for some people.

Is CWOB appropriate for someone with severe alcohol dependence?

CWOB is not designed to replace medical detoxification, addiction treatment or professional clinical care.

Someone experiencing severe dependence, withdrawal symptoms, repeated inability to stop despite serious consequences or another urgent alcohol-related concern should seek qualified professional support.

CWOB may eventually complement other forms of support, but it should not replace necessary medical or mental health treatment.

Does CWOB guarantee that I will stop drinking?

No.

No behavioral program can guarantee a particular outcome.

Your experience will depend on many factors, including your drinking patterns, personal circumstances, health, participation and the changes you choose to make.

CWOB is designed to help you understand your behavior, experiment with change and make more informed decisions about the role alcohol plays in your life.

Is my assessment a medical diagnosis?

No.

CWOB assessments and profiles are educational and behavioral tools.

They are not medical diagnoses and should not be interpreted as determining whether you have alcohol use disorder or another health condition.

If you want a clinical assessment, speak with a qualified healthcare professional.

Membership, Behavioral Coach & Billing

What is the CWOB Membership?

Membership is designed for people who want ongoing access to the CWOB experience beyond a single product or Reset.

Depending on your membership, this may include additional tools, educational content, progress features, resources and other member experiences as they become available.

Your membership continues until you cancel it.

Can I cancel my Membership anytime?

Yes.

Your CWOB Membership is designed to stay only as long as it is useful to you.

You may cancel your Membership at any time.

Once canceled, you will not be charged for future billing periods. You will generally retain access through the end of the billing period you have already paid for.

Canceling does not generate a refund or credit for amounts already paid.

How does the CWOB Behavioral Coach work?

The CWOB Behavioral Coach is designed to help you think through patterns, difficult moments, Reset experiences and behavioral changes using the information available within the CWOB experience.

It is intended to provide educational and behavioral guidance.

It is not a licensed therapist, doctor, counselor or emergency service and should not be used as a substitute for professional healthcare.

Can I cancel the Behavioral Coach anytime?

Yes.

You may cancel a recurring Behavioral Coach subscription at any time.

After cancellation, you will not be charged for future billing periods. Access will generally continue through the remainder of the period already paid for.

Previously charged subscription fees are not refunded or prorated.

What if I have the Membership + Behavioral Coach bundle?

You may cancel the recurring bundle at any time.

Cancellation prevents future recurring charges and does not create a refund or credit for the current or previous billing periods.

Your access will generally remain available through the end of the period you have already paid for.

Do you offer refunds?

No.

Because CWOB products provide immediate access to digital assessments, personalized results, profiles, Reset content, educational materials and other digital experiences, all purchases are final and non-refundable.

We do not offer refunds, partial refunds or prorated refunds for:

  • Behavioral Profiles
  • Resets
  • digital products
  • completed or partially completed programs
  • Membership charges
  • Behavioral Coach charges
  • Membership + Behavioral Coach charges
  • unused time remaining in a billing period

For recurring subscriptions, you can cancel at any time to prevent the next charge.

Cancellation applies to future billing periods. It does not reverse charges that have already been processed.

If you believe you were charged because of a genuine billing error, duplicate transaction or technical issue, please contact CWOB support so we can review it.

What happens when I cancel a subscription?

Canceling stops future recurring billing.

Your access will generally remain active until the end of your current paid billing period.

After that period ends, subscription-based features may no longer be available unless you subscribe again.

Any standalone products you purchased separately are governed by the access terms associated with those products.

Can I restart my Membership or Coach later?

Yes.

Changing your mind is part of the process too.

If you cancel and later decide you want ongoing CWOB support again, you can resubscribe using the options available at that time.

The Idea Behind CWOB

Why was Cheers Without Beers created?

Because there is a large space between:

“My drinking is completely fine.”

and

“I need treatment.”

A lot of people live somewhere in that space.

They may be successful, responsible and functioning well while privately wondering why alcohol has become so automatic, why they keep negotiating with themselves about it or whether they would simply feel better without it.

CWOB exists to give those people somewhere to explore the question without requiring a label first.

What is the bigger idea behind CWOB?

Alcohol can become woven into your life without defining who you are.

Understanding what it does for you helps you build a life where you need it less.

You don’t need to hate alcohol.

You don’t need to hate the person you were when you drank.

And you don’t need to prove that things were terrible enough to change.

Sometimes the question really can be this simple:

Does this still fit the life I want?

And if the answer is no—or even I’m not sure—that is enough of a reason to explore what comes next.
