White Grape Garden Gate

A sparkling drink with white grape, cucumber, lime.

White Grape Garden Gate

White grape juice can be very sweet on its own. Here, cucumber and lime give it room to breathe, and sparkling water turns a small amount of juice into a full glass. The cucumber should smell fresh when you slice it; a few thin rounds are enough. You get a clean, grape-flavored sip with a green finish, rather than a sugary soda. Start without any extra sweetener and adjust the lime to suit your juice.

Ingredients

  • 5 oz Sparkling water
  • 2 oz White grape juice
  • 4 slice Cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 oz Lime juice

Make it

  1. Prepare the fruit and herbs as listed. Mash soft fruit to release juice; lightly press herbs or thin ginger slices without shredding them.
  2. Add the still juices and stir. Strain out seeds, skins or herb pieces if you prefer a smoother texture.
  3. Pour in the chilled sparkling water slowly and stir once. Serve immediately, with ice if you like.

Benefits

Lime · a little vitamin C

Lime supplies some vitamin C for protecting cells from oxidative damage; pairing it with grape and cucumber adds another layer to the flavor.

Make room for cucumber

Cucumber gives the grape and lime a crisp green flavor—an aromatic pairing to serve freshly mixed, while the bubbles are lively.
