Sumac White Grape Side Street
A tart, citrus-like spice infusion balanced with sweet white grape juice.

Sumac gives this spritz a tart, lemon-like flavor without actually using citrus juice. White grape juice supplies sweetness, while the filtered spice infusion leaves a faintly dry finish. Passing it through a paper filter matters; loose sumac can make the texture dusty. The color may be pale pink or amber depending on the spice. This is an easy way to explore a different kind of sourness, especially if another lemon-and-mint drink doesn't sound particularly exciting.
Ingredients
- 1/4 tsp Food-grade ground sumac spice
- 2 oz Warm water
- 2 oz White grape juice, chilled
- 4 oz Sparkling water, chilled
Make it
- Stir the sumac into the warm water and steep for 10 minutes.

- Add the white grape juice and chilled sparkling water. Stir gently and serve immediately.

Sumac with a little lift
The sumac brings a lemony tang, alongside grape; the chilled carbonated mixer adds a crisp texture to that pairing.
