Rooibos Redcurrant Morning Lane
A chilled drink with redcurrant, white grape.

Redcurrants bring a sharp berry flavor to rooibos, and white grape juice gives them just enough sweetness. Press the currants into the cooled tea, then strain to remove the seeds and skins. The rooibos adds a woody depth that makes the drink feel less like diluted fruit juice. Keep the grape juice measured, since it can quickly soften all the tartness. The finished glass is caffeine-free, lightly fruity, and a little drier at the end than its color suggests.
Ingredients
- 1 tea bag Rooibos tea
- 6 oz Water
- 2 tbsp Redcurrants, stalks removed
- 2 oz White grape juice
Make it
- Brew the tea in the measured water, using the temperature and steeping time on its packet. Remove the tea bag.
- Cool the tea in a heatproof container, then chill for about 30 minutes.
- Mash any soft fruit in a separate glass. Lightly bruise herbs or ginger; add these and the listed juices or spices to the cooled tea.
- Stir well and taste. Remove ginger or herb sprigs when their flavor suits you. Strain if you prefer a smoother drink, then serve chilled.
Benefits
Rooibos · caffeine-free with redcurrant and grape
Redcurrant and grape changes the character of the rooibos, giving a caffeine-free brew more than one flavor to notice.
Redcurrant · a flavor worth noticing
Using redcurrant beside rooibos and grape gives the glass a bright, tart berry note, creating its own flavor without needing carbonation or an alcoholic pour.
