Roasted Fig Cardamom Reading Room
A milk blended with roasted fresh figs and cardamom.

Roasted figs bring a jam-like sweetness and a little texture to this spiced milk. Their tiny seeds remain noticeable unless you strain the cup, so choose the finish you prefer. Cardamom adds fragrance without the heaviness of a full spice mix. The figs should be soft before they go into the blender, and cool enough to blend safely with cold milk. This makes a fuller evening drink with a soft fruit flavor and a gently perfumed finish.
Ingredients
- 8 oz Unsweetened oat milk
- 2 fruit Fresh figs, stems removed and halved
- 1 tiny pinch Ground cardamom
Make it
- Heat the oven to 190°C/375°F. Roast the figs cut-side up in a small dish for 15–20 minutes, until soft.
- Cool the figs before blending thoroughly with the cold milk and cardamom.
- Warm gently in a saucepan and strain if you prefer fewer seeds.
Benefits
Fig with a useful milk choice
Choose fortified oat milk and the fig in this cup comes with a little calcium too, contributing to normal muscle function as well as bones and teeth. In this version, 2 fruit fig and 1 tiny pinch cardamom completes the pairing.
