Raspberry Reading Light

Raspberry Rooibos Tea. A simple recipe for your evening wind-down.

Raspberry Reading Light

Raspberries give rooibos a bright berry note against its mellow, woody base. They bring tartness as well as sweetness, so this won’t necessarily taste like a sweet fruit tea. Brew the rooibos first and press the berries lightly before letting them mingle in the cup. You can strain out the seeds if you prefer. A little fruit character is enough; the tea should still feel like the drink you meant to make.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz Hot water
  • 1 tea bag Rooibos tea
  • 1/4 cup Raspberries

Make it

  1. Add the tea or fruit and spices to a heatproof mug or small saucepan.
  2. Pour in the hot water. Steep tea for the time on its packet, or gently simmer fruit for 3–5 minutes.
  3. Remove tea bags. Strain if you prefer, add any optional sweetener, and sip while comfortably warm.

Benefits

Rooibos · caffeine-free with raspberry

Rooibos gives raspberry a brewed base without caffeine, so the flavor does not depend on a caffeinated tea or coffee.

The raspberry detail

Here raspberry supplies a bright raspberry tang, with rooibos turning that familiar ingredient into a different kind of warm cup.
