Raspberry Basil Beginning

Raspberry Basil Water. A simple recipe for the start of your day.

Raspberry Basil Beginning

Raspberry gives this water a tart berry note, while basil makes the aroma greener and a little more savory. It’s a nice departure from the usual berry-and-mint pairing. Gently crush the raspberries so their juice can mix with the water, then lightly bruise the basil. Some seeds are inevitable unless you strain it. Keep the leaves modest enough that the raspberry remains easy to recognize.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz Cold water
  • 1/4 cup Raspberries
  • 3 leaf Basil leaves

Make it

  1. Add the fruit and herbs to a glass. Gently press soft fruit or herbs to release their flavor.
  2. Stir in the juice, any optional salt or sweetener, and the water. If using sparkling water, add it last and stir once.
  3. Add ice if you like. Let infused water stand for 5 minutes for a fuller flavor.

Benefits

Raspberry and basil · refreshing fluids

There’s 6 oz of water behind the raspberry and basil in this recipe: everyday hydration with a bright raspberry tang, rather than another plain glass.

Raspberry · a flavor worth noticing

Using raspberry beside basil gives the glass a bright raspberry tang, creating its own flavor without needing carbonation or an alcoholic pour.
