Plum Rose Late Lantern

Warm Plum, Rose & Cardamom Cup. A different way to make the moment yours.

Plum Rose Late Lantern

Plum brings a gentle tartness, rose water adds a floral aroma, and cardamom gives the finish a small warm note. Both the rose and spice need restraint so the fruit doesn't disappear. Remove the plum stone carefully and let the slices soften before mashing. Straining leaves a smoother cup if you don't want bits of skin. This is a fragrant evening drink with a slightly more adventurous character than a plain plum compote, while still staying light and easy to sip.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz Water
  • 1 fruit Ripe plum, pitted
  • 1/16 tsp Food-grade rose water
  • 1 tiny pinch Ground cardamom

Make it

  1. Prepare the fruit as listed, removing all stones, cores and hard stems.
  2. Put the water and all remaining ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 5–7 minutes until any fresh fruit has softened.
  3. Mash softened fruit gently, then strain if you prefer a smoother cup. Remove whole peel, herbs or ginger pieces. Serve comfortably warm.
