Pineapple Porch After Dark

Warm Pineapple Ginger Cup. A simple recipe for your evening wind-down.

Pineapple Porch After Dark

Pineapple makes an unexpectedly pleasant warm fruit cup, with ginger adding a little peppery warmth beneath its sweetness and tang. Hot water keeps it from feeling like a mug of straight juice. Stir the pineapple through and let thin ginger pieces infuse briefly. The fruit is already assertive, so the ginger doesn’t need to be. It’s a tropical direction for an evening drink without the richness of coconut milk or the sharpness of added lime.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz Hot water
  • 2 oz Pineapple juice
  • 2 slice Fresh ginger

Make it

  1. Add the tea or fruit and spices to a heatproof mug or small saucepan.
  2. Pour in the hot water. Steep tea for the time on its packet, or gently simmer fruit for 3–5 minutes.
  3. Remove tea bags. Strain if you prefer, add any optional sweetener, and sip while comfortably warm.
