Pineapple Garden Fizz

Pineapple Basil Fizz. A simple recipe for the start of your day.

Pineapple Garden Fizz

Pineapple can be assertively sweet, and basil gives it a leafy counterpoint that keeps this from tasting like a straightforward tropical soda. The combination works best when you can smell the basil without tasting an entire mouthful of leaves. Bruise them lightly, mix with the juice, and pour in the sparkling water. That last addition keeps the texture lively while letting the pineapple remain unmistakable.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz Sparkling water
  • 2 oz Pineapple juice
  • 3 leaf Basil leaves

Make it

  1. Add the fruit and herbs to a glass. Gently press soft fruit or herbs to release their flavor.
  2. Stir in the juice, any optional salt or sweetener, and the water. If using sparkling water, add it last and stir once.
  3. Add ice if you like. Let infused water stand for 5 minutes for a fuller flavor.

Benefits

Apple juice and basil · refreshing fluids

Using apple juice and basil turns the measured water into a drink with a familiar orchard flavor. That water still counts toward your fluid intake.

Make room for basil

Basil gives the apple juice a savory green fragrance—an aromatic pairing to serve freshly mixed, while the bubbles are lively.
