Orange Wake-Up

Orange Ginger Sparkler. A simple recipe for the start of your day.

Orange Wake-Up

Orange juice gets a sharper wake-up call from fresh ginger here. You still have that familiar breakfast citrus, but there’s a peppery warmth after the first sip that keeps it from feeling like another glass of juice. Sparkling water stretches it into something lighter. Grate the ginger finely if you want more bite, or leave it in larger pieces for a gentler orange-and-ginger fizz.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz Sparkling water
  • 2 oz Orange juice
  • 2 slice Fresh ginger

Make it

  1. Add the fruit and herbs to a glass. Gently press soft fruit or herbs to release their flavor.
  2. Stir in the juice, any optional salt or sweetener, and the water. If using sparkling water, add it last and stir once.
  3. Add ice if you like. Let infused water stand for 5 minutes for a fuller flavor.

Benefits

Orange · a little vitamin C

The 2 oz of orange juice adds some vitamin C for absorbing iron from plant foods, with ginger rounding out the flavor.

Ginger · more than a sweet mixer

With orange in the glass, the measured ginger contributes a peppery warmth as an accent to the fizz.
