Orange Peel Moonrise

Orange Peel Rooibos. A simple recipe for your evening wind-down.

Orange Peel Moonrise

Orange peel gives rooibos a fragrant citrus note without turning the tea into an orange juice drink. The peel’s oils are the interesting part, with a little bitterness possible if there’s plenty of white pith attached. Brew the rooibos and let the peel join briefly. You should still notice the tea’s mellow, woody character. This is a quiet, aromatic cup for someone who prefers a citrus scent to a sweet fruit flavor.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz Hot water
  • 1 tea bag Rooibos tea
  • 1 strip Orange peel

Make it

  1. Add the tea or fruit and spices to a heatproof mug or small saucepan.
  2. Pour in the hot water. Steep tea for the time on its packet, or gently simmer fruit for 3–5 minutes.
  3. Remove tea bags. Strain if you prefer, add any optional sweetener, and sip while comfortably warm.

Benefits

Rooibos · caffeine-free with orange peel

Rooibos gives orange peel a brewed base without caffeine, so the flavor does not depend on a caffeinated tea or coffee.

A warmer side of orange peel

The rooibos carries a fragrant orange-oil note from orange peel, giving you a fragrant warm drink to enjoy in place of an alcoholic nightcap.
