Mango Tea at Ten

Mango Lime Iced Black Tea. A simple recipe for the start of your day.

Mango Tea at Ten

Mango gives black tea a rounded fruit sweetness, and lime adds a tart edge against the tea’s drying finish. The mango needs to be ripe and softened enough to release flavor; otherwise the lime may be the only fruit you notice. Brew the tea separately so its strength stays under control. This can work warm or chilled, with a little mango pulp giving the glass its own texture.

Ingredients

  • 1 tea bag Black tea
  • 6 oz Hot water
  • 1/4 cup Mango chunks
  • 1/2 oz Lime juice

Make it

  1. Steep the tea in hot water for the time on its packet, then remove the bag.
  2. Let the tea cool. Press or mash any soft fruit and stir in the remaining ingredients.
  3. Pour over ice. Strain if you prefer a smoother drink.

Benefits

Lime · a little vitamin C

Lime supplies some vitamin C for protecting cells from oxidative damage; pairing it with black tea and mango adds another layer to the flavor.

Let mango bring the interest

The black tea and lime carries a full tropical fruit flavor from mango; use the listed amounts to enjoy the balance between those flavors, then adjust to your taste.
