Lavender Low Lights

Lavender Rooibos Tea. A simple recipe for your evening wind-down.

Lavender Low Lights

Rooibos gives lavender a mellow, woody backdrop, making this more grounded than a plain floral infusion. Use culinary lavender sparingly: a small amount can be fragrant, while too much becomes perfumed or soapy. Brew the rooibos and check the flowers after a short infusion. The tea should remain the body of the cup. Lavender is the small aromatic detail that makes it different, rather than a flavor that needs to fill every sip.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz Hot water
  • 1 tea bag Rooibos tea
  • 1/8 tsp Culinary lavender

Make it

  1. Add the tea or fruit and spices to a heatproof mug or small saucepan.
  2. Pour in the hot water. Steep tea for the time on its packet, or gently simmer fruit for 3–5 minutes.
  3. Remove tea bags. Strain if you prefer, add any optional sweetener, and sip while comfortably warm.

Benefits

Rooibos · caffeine-free with lavender

Rooibos gives lavender a brewed base without caffeine, so the flavor does not depend on a caffeinated tea or coffee.

Lavender · a reason to linger

Warm lavender with rooibos and you get a delicate floral scent in a cup made for small, comfortably warm sips.

Use culinary lavender, never essential oil.
