Kiwi White Grape Early Train

A sparkling drink with kiwi, white grape, lemon.

Kiwi White Grape Early Train

Kiwi gives sweet white grape juice a tart, green-fruit note and a scattering of tiny seeds. Lemon adds a little extra definition, but taste the kiwi first because very sharp fruit may need less. Mash it smoothly before you add the sparkling water. The drink is more textured than a clear soda and has a fresher finish than grape juice alone. A ripe kiwi makes the difference between a rounded fruit flavor and something noticeably sour.

Ingredients

  • 5 oz Sparkling water
  • 1/2 fruit Ripe kiwi, peeled
  • 2 oz White grape juice
  • 1/4 oz Lemon juice

Make it

  1. Prepare the fruit and herbs as listed. Mash soft fruit to release juice; lightly press herbs or thin ginger slices without shredding them.
  2. Add the still juices and stir. Strain out seeds, skins or herb pieces if you prefer a smoother texture.
  3. Pour in the chilled sparkling water slowly and stir once. Serve immediately, with ice if you like.

Benefits

Kiwi · a little vitamin C

Kiwi supplies some vitamin C for protecting cells from oxidative damage; pairing it with grape and lemon adds another layer to the flavor.

Make room for lemon

Lemon gives the kiwi and grape a clean citrus sharpness—an aromatic pairing to serve freshly mixed, while the bubbles are lively.
