Hojicha Pear Cafe Morning
A pear-softened latte built around the roasted flavor of hojicha.

Hojicha has a roasted flavor that's quite different from grassy green tea. Pear gives it a mild sweetness, and oat milk turns the combination into a rounded morning latte. The pear needs to be ripe and tender enough to mash smoothly; straining removes any remaining graininess. Keep the tea reasonably strong so it can still be tasted through the milk. This is a gently fruity cafe-style cup, with a toasted finish and some caffeine.
Ingredients
- 1 tea bag Hojicha roasted green tea
- 3 oz Water
- 5 oz Unsweetened oat milk
- 1/4 fruit Ripe pear, cored and diced
- 1/2 tsp Maple syrup (optional)
Make it
- Brew the hojicha in the water according to its packet, then remove the tea bag.
- Warm the oat milk with the diced pear for 4–5 minutes until the pear is tender. Let cool enough for safe handling.
- Mash and strain the pear milk, or blend only once cool enough for your blender. Stir into the tea with optional maple syrup and serve comfortably warm.
Benefits
Green tea with a useful milk choice
Choose fortified oat milk and the green tea in this cup comes with a little calcium too, contributing to normal muscle function as well as bones and teeth.
A different side of pear
There is a mellow orchard sweetness from the measured pear in the green tea and oat milk mixture, giving that ingredient a place without drowning out the other flavors.
Hojicha contains caffeine. Do not blend hot liquid in a sealed blender.
