First Light Lemon
Lemon Salt Water. A simple recipe for the start of your day.

This one keeps things simple: cold water, fresh lemon, and an optional tiny pinch of sea salt. The lemon brings a clean, tart edge, while the salt rounds things out without making it taste like a salty drink. There’s no sweetness competing for attention, so it’s a good fit when you want something crisp and uncomplicated. Serve it cold, go easy on the salt, and adjust the lemon until it feels like your kind of morning.
Ingredients
- 6 oz Cold water
- 1/2 oz Lemon juice
- 1/16 tsp Sea salt (optional)
Make it
- Add the fruit and herbs to a glass. Gently press soft fruit or herbs to release their flavor.
- Stir in the juice, any optional salt or sweetener, and the water. If using sparkling water, add it last and stir once.
- Add ice if you like. Let infused water stand for 5 minutes for a fuller flavor.
Benefits
A little care for your skin
That small squeeze of lemon contributes a little vitamin C, which your body uses to make collagen for healthy skin. It gives the water a fresh, tart edge at the same time.
Water with a reason to reach for it
Six ounces of cold water makes this a simple way to add to your daily fluids. Lemon supplies the flavor; the optional pinch of salt is a taste choice, so you can leave it out.
