Coriander Grapefruit Toasted Hour
A short toasted-spice infusion gives grapefruit a new aromatic edge.

Toasting coriander makes its citrus-like aroma more noticeable, giving grapefruit a warm spice note without adding heat. The short infusion is worth straining carefully so the glass stays smooth. Grapefruit supplies the bitter, tart base, while a little honey is optional if you want a softer edge. This is a small preparation project with a clear payoff in aroma. The finished spritz feels dry and fragrant, especially suited to someone who enjoys bitter citrus rather than sweet fruit punch.
Ingredients
- 1/4 tsp Coriander seeds
- 2 oz Water for infusion
- 2 oz Grapefruit juice
- 1/2 tsp Honey (optional)
- 4 oz Sparkling water, chilled
Make it
- Toast the coriander seeds in a dry pan over medium-low heat for about 1 minute until fragrant; do not burn them.

Benefits
Grapefruit · a little vitamin C
The 2 oz of grapefruit juice adds some vitamin C for absorbing iron from plant foods, with coriander rounding out the flavor.
Coriander · more than a sweet mixer
With grapefruit in the glass, the measured coriander contributes a citrus-like spice note as an accent to the fizz.
