Celery Apple First Chapter

A chilled drink with celery, apple, lime.

Celery Apple First Chapter

Celery gives apple juice a grassy, savory note that changes the whole character of the drink. Lime keeps it from feeling heavy, and the apple contributes enough sweetness to round out the celery. Choose plain celery juice rather than a heavily seasoned vegetable blend. If you're new to the flavor, keep the celery portion modest and taste before adding more. This one makes sense with breakfast, particularly eggs or toast, rather than as a sweet treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Cold water
  • 1 1/2 oz Celery juice
  • 2 oz Apple juice
  • 1/4 oz Lime juice

Make it

  1. Prepare the fruit and herbs as listed. Mash soft fruit to release juice; lightly press herbs or thin ginger slices without shredding them.
  2. Add the still juices and stir. Strain out seeds, skins or herb pieces if you prefer a smoother texture.
  3. Stir in the cold water. Let fresh fruit, herbs or ginger infuse for 5 minutes, then remove the ginger or herb sprigs when the flavor suits you. Serve chilled.

Benefits

Lime ยท a little vitamin C

Beside celery and apple juice, lime offers a little vitamin C, used by your body for normal immune function, as well as a lively citrus tang.

A different side of apple juice

There is a familiar orchard flavor from the measured apple juice in the celery and lime mixture, giving that ingredient a place without drowning out the other flavors.
