Blueberry Rose Reading Hour
Warm Blueberry, Rose & Orange-Peel Cup. A different way to make the moment yours.

Blueberries give this cup a mild berry flavor, with orange peel adding fragrance and a few drops of rose water making the aroma more distinctive. Press the softened berries gently so their juice reaches the water. The rose should remain a small accent; too much will hide the fruit. Remove the peel before it turns bitter and strain if you prefer a smoother cup. This is a light, gently floral evening drink with a quieter sweetness than a berry syrup.
Ingredients
- 6 oz Water
- 1/2 cup Blueberries
- 1/16 tsp Food-grade rose water
- 1 strip Washed orange peel, with little white pith
Make it
- Prepare the fruit as listed, removing all stones, cores and hard stems.
- Put the water and all remaining ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 5–7 minutes until any fresh fruit has softened.
- Mash softened fruit gently, then strain if you prefer a smoother cup. Remove whole peel, herbs or ginger pieces. Serve comfortably warm.
