Blueberry Rooibos Morning

Blueberry Lemon Rooibos Cooler. A simple recipe for the start of your day.

Blueberry Rooibos Morning

Blueberries add a mild berry note to rooibos, while lemon makes the flavor easier to pick out against the tea’s woody background. Split or press the berries lightly; whole ones release very little. This is still a tea, not blueberry juice, so expect something subtle. Brew the rooibos to a strength you enjoy before adding the fruit, and let it cool before icing if you want it cold.

Ingredients

  • 1 tea bag Rooibos tea
  • 6 oz Hot water
  • 1/4 cup Blueberries
  • 1/2 oz Lemon juice

Make it

  1. Steep the tea in hot water for the time on its packet, then remove the bag.
  2. Let the tea cool. Press or mash any soft fruit and stir in the remaining ingredients.
  3. Pour over ice. Strain if you prefer a smoother drink.

Benefits

Lemon · a little vitamin C

Using lemon with rooibos and blueberry brings vitamin C for absorbing iron from plant foods, along with a clean citrus sharpness.

Blueberry, rooibos, and lemon

The blueberry contributes a mellow berry sweetness to rooibos and lemon, giving you a specific flavor combination to reach for instead of a default pour.
