Barley Orange Cream Cup

A roasted-barley infusion finished with vanilla and milk.

Barley Orange Cream Cup

Barley tea brings a toasted, slightly dry character that balances the softer milk and vanilla. Orange peel adds fragrance without the sharpness that orange juice would introduce. Remove both the tea bag and peel before adding the milk so the drink stays smooth. The cup should smell creamy but taste fairly light, with the roasted grain still recognizable. This is an interesting choice if you enjoy coffee-like aromas but want a different evening drink without coffee.

Ingredients

  • 1 tea bag Roasted barley tea
  • 5 oz Water
  • 3 oz Unsweetened oat milk
  • 1 strip Washed orange peel, little white pith
  • 1/8 tsp Alcohol-free vanilla flavoring

Make it

  1. Brew the barley tea with the orange peel in the measured water, following the tea packet.
  2. Remove the bag and peel. Add the milk and warm gently.
  3. Stir in the vanilla just before serving.

Benefits

Barley tea with a useful milk choice

For this barley tea cup, picking calcium-fortified oat milk gives the creamy base an extra role: contributing to your calcium intake.

The vanilla detail

Here vanilla supplies a sweet-smelling vanilla aroma, with barley tea, oat milk, and orange peel turning that familiar ingredient into a different kind of warm cup.

Barley contains gluten.
